Sala Dang: Best Thai Restaurant in Seoul with Amazing Atmosphere

Last winter, there was a Thai restaurant that absolutely set Instagram on fire! It’s called Sala Dang Temple, and it’s nestled right in Seongsu-dong.

From the entrance to the interior design—
It had such an authentic vibe that I honestly couldn’t tell if I was in Korea or Thailand. The atmosphere? Chef’s kiss.

📍 Sala Dang Temple
Address: 32, Seongsui-ro 16-gil, Seongdong-gu, Seoul
☎️ Phone: 0507-1359-2289
Hours: Daily, 11:30 AM – 10:30 PM

It wasn’t far from Seongsu Station, but let me tell you, it’s tucked away in an alley so snug I had to double-check Google Maps like five times to make sure I wasn’t lost. 😂 Finally found it after what felt like a treasure hunt!

The entrance? A whole vibe.

On Insta, I’d seen people sailing into this place on a little boat. Naturally, I had high hopes. But alas, it was snowing that day, and the water was frozen solid. No boat ride for me. 🚤❄️

Inside the compound, there’s not just Sala Dang Temple but also a bakery café called Rain Report Croissant. I popped by after eating, and yep, it’s just as stylish as you’d expect—a total photo-op magnet.

My inner promise:

“I’ll come back in spring and ride that boat!” (Will I really, though? Who knows. LOL.)

If the weather’s nice, the outdoor seating here would be the perfect mood booster. Tables surround a large water feature (think pond vibes), and the whole layout screams “Instagram aesthetic.”

Oh, and the pièce de résistance? A huge Buddha statue taking up an entire wall. It’s a showstopper IRL—majestic and beautifully crafted.

We arrived during a weekday, just outside peak meal times, so no waiting for us. But if you’re thinking of visiting on a weekend? Better secure that reservation through CatchTable. Don’t say I didn’t warn you!

Let’s talk food.

Everything here is meticulously styled—from water bottles to the menu. You can tell they’ve thought through every detail. As for us? My foodie buddy and I have zero self-control, so we ordered like we were feeding a small army. Here’s the breakdown:

🍹 Drinks:
Tangmo Baan (Watermelon Juice): ₩10,000
Singha Beer: ₩10,000
Thai cuisine without these? Blasphemy! Always a winning combo.

🍛 Main Dishes:
Poo Pad Pong Curry: ₩39,000
This dish had A+ visuals, but the taste? A bit too salty and rich for me to handle long-term. As a huge fan of Poo Pad Pong Curry, I was slightly let down. Still, it’s definitely Insta-worthy!

Shrimp Pad Thai: ₩23,000
When in doubt, Pad Thai! You can’t go wrong. It was delicious and well-plated. Pro tip: make this your go-to “safe” dish and add on something adventurous.

🍤 Sides:
Fried Spring Rolls: ₩8,000
Ordered by my “fried food fanatic” friend. Nothing to write home about, but not bad either. Portion-wise, it’s just enough to be a snack.

Mango Grapefruit Som Tam: ₩30,000
This was the star of the meal for me! The tangy green mango paired with the vibrant flavors of the Som Tam made it the perfect palate cleanser. Gorgeous and delicious—a must-try.

The Verdict?

We ordered four dishes, worried about leftovers, but… let’s just say we basically licked the plates clean. 😂 Everything was beautifully plated, and you could tell they put real effort into the presentation.

Taste-wise, though? Solid but not groundbreaking. Nothing I’d dream about at night, but also no major disappointments. If you’re in the mood for a Thai getaway without leaving Seoul, it’s definitely worth checking out once!
