All Inclusive Cancun Food Tour – Casual Dining at Atelier Playa Mujeres

[Cancun All-Inclusive Guide] Hidden Gems at Atelier Playa Mujeres: Casual Eats You’ll Totally Fall in Love With 💃🌮

When I first thought of Cancun, I’ll admit—I had it pegged as just a honeymoon hotspot with pretty beaches and fancy resorts. Boy, was I in for a surprise!

What really makes Cancun the ultimate getaway? That magical little phrase: All-Inclusive. I didn’t truly get it until I was living my best life at Atelier Playa Mujeres, where food, drinks, and sunshine flow non-stop like a dream.

Let me take you on a bite-by-bite tour of my favorite casual restaurants from my first trip to Cancun—each one spiced with good vibes, flavor bombs, and a side of sun.

🏖️ Limon y Sal – Poolside Paradise with a Splash of Guac & Glory

If heaven had a bar right next to a pool, it would be Limon y Sal. It’s connected to the main pool area at Atelier, so you can float over, grab a drink, and float right back. Smooth, right?

Now, we’re not big drinkers, but their virgin mojito and piña colada? We ordered them on repeat. Like, seriously—they haunted our dreams in the best way possible.

But let’s talk guacamole. Freshly mashed avocado greatness that screamed, “Welcome to Mexico, baby!” Every bite had us dancing in our seats. (Internally, at least. Too full to actually dance.)

The weather in Cancun during our March visit? Absolute perfection. Sunny enough to tan, breezy enough not to melt. Sitting by the pool, munching on delicious food… that’s the dream.

What did we devour?

  • Beef short rib steak with fries

  • Chicken tenders

  • Grilled chicken salad

  • A few mystery items we don’t remember the names of but sure remember how yum they were!

Only the pork ribs got a “meh” review from us. Everything else? Chef’s kiss 💋

🍝 CILENTO – The Pasta Place That Beat the Odds

I’ll be honest—reviews scared me. The pasta at CILENTO didn’t have the best rep online. But hey, we were hungry, the weather was nice, and the outdoor seating was calling our names.

We ordered:

  • Pepperoni pizza (thin, chewy, and way less greasy than American ones—praise!)

  • Fried calamari (crispy and fresh, the perfect starter)

  • Shrimp aglio e olio pasta (the one everyone warned us about…)

And surprise, surprise—the pasta was incredible! Fresh, bouncy shrimp stole the show. So yeah, sometimes you gotta taste it to believe it.

Also, can we take a moment for their adorable plates and cozy table setting? It felt like a warm Italian hug in the middle of Mexico.

🌮 MERCADO19 – Dinner Drama & Breakfast Redemption Dinner:

We had high hopes. It was recommended by the staff AND had rave blog reviews. So we booked a dinner reservation via QR code (fancy, huh?) and showed up at 8:40 PM, stomachs growling.

Started strong with:

  • Guacamole (again, a 10/10)

  • Mango beer with chili powder on the rim (shocking but weirdly good!)

  • Black bean and pork broth soup (interesting, not for everyone)

  • Tamales (my husband loved them—I was not convinced)

Then came the tacos. We went wild and ordered every type—chicken, beef, pork, shrimp. They looked amazing, like a taco runway show, but sadly… the taste didn’t match the look. Dry meats, heavy seasoning, and just too much food overall. Maybe it was us, maybe it was the hype. But this one didn’t live up to the dream.

Breakfast:

Redemption time! On our last day, we gave MERCADO19 one more shot—breakfast edition. And hallelujah, it was fabulous.

Imagine this:

  • Fresh veggies galore

  • Mountains of bread varieties

  • Cold cuts and cheese

  • Made-to-order omelets and tacos

  • Juices that actually taste like the fruit they’re from!

Even with zero hunger, I powered through three full plates. No regrets. Breakfast wins.

☕ Cafecito – My Cancun Coffee Soulmate

This cozy café became our second home. We dropped by at least twice a day—it was that good.

The vibe? Chill. The staff? So friendly I wanted to hug them. The drinks? From espresso to iced americanos to gelato affogatos—chef’s kiss again.

Pro tip: skip the plain gelato and go for the affogato (coffee + gelato = heaven). And yes, we ordered over 10 iced americanos during our stay. No shame.

Even on the way to the airport, I had one last Cafecito coffee in hand. It was hard to leave… but at least I had my caffeine buddy to go.

🌟 Cancun Surprise: All-Inclusive Bliss

This trip flipped my idea of Cancun on its sandy head. It wasn’t just beaches and newlyweds—it was food, fun, and freedom. The all-inclusive magic at Atelier Playa Mujeres made every bite taste better and every sip feel like a celebration.

One thing’s for sure: I’m already dreaming of round two. Maybe with stretchy pants this time. 😎
