Heuksiru Gijang: Busan’s Best Galbijjim with Stunning Garden Views

During the Chuseok holiday, I went back to my hometown in Busan and got to enjoy a chill week off. Of course, I made plans to meet up with one of my favorite friends—it’s been way too long!

We only meet twice a year, during the holidays, so every time we hang out, we make it a mission to hit up the trendiest spots we can find.

This time, I prepped a list of must-visit places and we headed to Gijang for some good vibes, great views, and even better food. Gijang is always a solid choice, so I was super pumped.

The Break Time Disaster

But plot twist! Since we met at 3 PM, all the restaurants on my list were closed for break time. Ugh. Waiting wasn’t an option because we were both starving, so we had to switch gears and find a new spot on the fly.

After a quick search, we decided on a place called Heuksiru, mostly because it was nearby and—crucially—it had no break time.

Heuksiru (흙시루) Gijang in Busan

Address: 28, Chaseong-ro 451beon-gil, Gijang-eup, Gijang-gun, Busan

First Impressions: Jackpot!

As soon as we arrived, I knew we’d made the right call. The place was GORGEOUS.

Heuksiru isn’t just a restaurant—it’s a vibe. Traditional hanok-style buildings, a beautifully kept garden, and an atmosphere so peaceful I felt like I was in a movie. I couldn’t resist taking photos for a solid 10 minutes before even stepping inside.

Even the bathrooms had a traditional-meets-modern feel—so clean and stylish! Plus, there were outdoor tables, which made it feel super family-friendly.

Inside the Restaurant

The inside was just as nice as the outside. Bright, clean, and modern, with huge windows overlooking the garden. The space felt fresh and welcoming, and honestly, I was already in love before the food even came.

We ordered their signature spicy beef short ribs (so-galbijjim), adding rice cakes because, let’s be real, rice cakes make everything better.

The Food: 10/10 Would Eat Again

When the food arrived, I was impressed. Each person got their own set of side dishes, neatly arranged on wooden trays. It felt fancy but still super homey. Perfect for bringing parents or special guests.

The galbijjim was already cooked and just needed a quick simmer with fresh veggies, mushrooms, and the rice cakes we added. OMG, it was SO good. The beef was tender, the broth wasn’t too salty or heavy, and the flavors were just on point.

The rice cakes were the MVP, soaking up all that delicious broth and turning into chewy, savory bites of perfection.

Final Thoughts

Heuksiru isn’t just a meal—it’s an experience. The food, the vibes, the garden… everything about it was amazing. Whether you’re bringing your family, hanging out with friends, or just want a great spot for photos, this place is a winner.

If you’re ever in Gijang, do yourself a favor and check out Heuksiru. You won’t regret it!
