Kkua Seongsu: Best Pho and Bánh Xèo in Seoul

A Hidden Gem with a Famous Reputation

Good food is a must when meeting someone you truly adore. This time, we visited Kkua Seongsu, a hot spot in Seongsu-dong that never disappoints!

Featured on the show Julseoneun Sikdang (The Restaurant Worth Lining Up For), Kkua isn’t just in Seongsu—it also has branches in Kondae, Bupyeong, Songridan-gil, and more. It’s a true rising star in the food world.

📍 Address: B1, 26-24 Seoulsup 4-gil, Seongdong-gu, Seoul
📞 Phone: 0507-1364-0136
🕒 Hours: 11:30 AM – 9:30 PM (Break Time: 3:30 PM – 4:30 PM)

Getting There and Skipping the Wait

Luckily, we arrived early on a chilly weekday evening and got in without waiting. But here’s a tip: use the Tabling App to queue virtually before arriving—it’ll save you from waiting outside in the cold.

Kkua’s unique underground entrance leads to an interior brimming with Southeast Asian vibes. The atmosphere feels so authentically Vietnamese, you might momentarily forget you’re in Seoul!

Transported to Vietnam: Ambiance and Details

Despite arriving early, most tables were already full. We even spotted solo diners enjoying their bowls of beef rib pho. It’s clear this place is a true local gem.

We did our homework before coming, so ordering was easy! We went for the most popular dishes: Wang Galbi Pho (Beef Rib Pho) and Bánh Xèo (Vietnamese Pancakes)—the must-tries at Kkua.

Kkua’s attention to detail is amazing, from the decor to the presentation. They even provided clear instructions on how to eat Bánh Xèo, making it easy for everyone to enjoy.

The Star Dishes: Wang Galbi Pho and Bánh Xèo

Wang Galbi Pho: The Signature Dish

  • Price: 14,000 KRW
Kkua’s signature dish had me saying, “This is insane!” The rich, clean broth paired with tender, smoky beef ribs cooked over an open flame was an absolute showstopper. The portion was so generous it felt like half beef, half noodles—pure heaven in a bowl!

Bánh Xèo: A Flavor Explosion

  • Price: 26,000 KRW
The Bánh Xèo wowed us with its stunning presentation. Served with egg, shrimp, bean sprouts, fresh veggies, pineapple, and smoky grilled meat, it’s meant to be wrapped in rice paper and dipped in sauce. Each bite was a perfect blend of smoky, tangy, and savory flavors.

Unique Dining Tips for Bánh Xèo

  • Unlike the typical method of softening rice paper in hot water, Kkua serves it dry. The sauce naturally softens the paper as you wrap your ingredients.
  • Disposable gloves are provided, so use your left hand to hold the wrap while enjoying this hands-on experience.

The smoky flavor of the meat, the tangy sauces, and the harmonious blend of egg, shrimp, pineapple, and fresh veggies made every bite unforgettable. I couldn’t stop taking pictures—it’s no wonder Kkua is an Instagram sensation!
